Hussain Sajwani is the founder and current Chairman of DAMAC Properties. He started the company in 2002 when the Dubai government allowed foreigners to own property in the Emirates. He began the real estate investment by buying land and constructing a 38 –story residential building, which sold in less than six months. Since then, the DAMAC owner has aided in turning Dubai’s image into a dazzling destination.

 

Before venturing into real estate, Hussain Sajwani served as a Contracts Manager at GASCO, (a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company). In 1982, he established a business in catering. He pioneered property market expansion in Dubai. During the mid-90s, he built hotels to cater for the increasing number of people to the Emirates.

 

An Overview of DAMAC

 

DAMAC Properties was formed in 2002 by Hussain Sajwani after realizing the market opportunity in Dubai. The company is in the construction, architecture and engineering industry, and specializes in the expansion of leisure, commercial and residential properties in Dubai as well as the Middle East.

 

DAMAC, whose shares are traded in Dubai in the financial market is a publicly listed company. It has a wide range of expertise that enables it to have proper management and oversight of all features of a project from the acquisition of land. The firm has kept a good track of records in offering luxurious property development.

 

Hussain -Trump Relationship

 

Hussain and Donald Trump are in a business relationship. The two teamed up in 2013 to develop two golf courses that are Trump branded. Situated at DAMAC’s Akoya residential development in Dubai, The Trump International Golf Course was opened in February 2017 while the Trump World Golf Course (designed by Tiger Woods) will open at the end of 2018 at DAMAC development. Trump praises Hussain saying that he is an amazing person.

 

Extending a Hand of Gratitude

 

Hussain Sajwani family offered a cheque worth two million Arab Emirate Dirham to Ramadan Initiative with the aim of clothing more than 50,000 children in need. The campaign targets all deprived children around the world. It was set off by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister, Vice-President (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai.
